Beeswax Autumn Garland and Easy Plum Cake Recipe

Yesterday we collected leaves on our walk to the park and dipped them in melted beeswax when we got home.  We threaded them and put them up in our living room for a beautiful garland to celebrate the Autumn season.

And today, while she was dropping off Little One at my house, my friend Sophie told me a recipe for a super easy plum cake like the one she had as a child in Germany.  We have so so many Italian plums on our tree this year, that I decided to give it a go.  It turned out great and only has a few ingredients.  Keep in mind that Sophie told me this recipe as she and I chased Little One around the raspberry patch this morning so maybe I forgot some things or maybe she forgot to tell me something, but I made it this afternoon while Little One was napping and it came out great.

Easy Plum Cake Recipe:

1 C flour
1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
some vanilla
a pinch or 2 of salt
1 stick of butter, melted

mix and put into a 9 x 9 dish.  Cut plums in half, take out the pit, and place face-up on top of dough.  Sprinkle some sugar on top and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or so.

You might want to butter the pan before putting in the dough because my dough stuck to the pan a bit.

Enjoy!

  2. Your blog is lovely. I popped over from the comment you left. I never thought of dipping leaves in beeswax. I might have to try that.
